Chargers News: On Eve Of LA Game, Star Bears CB Working On Extension

Upcoming Bolts opponent might lock up one of their defensive stars soon...

Your 2-4 Chargers are set to face the 2-5 Chicago Bears on October 29th, and open up as 8.5-point betting favorites at present.

However, coming off of a big win against the Chargers' rival Las Vegas Raiders, the Bears look to help undrafted rookie quarterback Tyson Bagent continue his win streak as a starter in his second career game.

A big help in the Bears' 30-12 victory was a  4th quarter, 39-yard pick six by standout cornerback Jaylon Johnson.

Johnson is in his fourth and final year of his rookie contract after being selected in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

After his game-sealing pick-six, Johnson went on 670 The Score AM radio in Chicago to talk about the game and his possible contract extension.

Johnson was recently in trade talk rumors around the league being tied to teams like the 49ers, but after his Week 7 performance, the asking price for him has most definitely gone up if he is still on the table.

Chicago may want to lock Johnson up in a multi-year deal to be a leader of a team that is getting younger and better, projected to have at least one top pick in the NFL Draft this year if not two.

Since entering the league Johnson has allowed a career 56.95% completion rate and has never had a season over 60%.

Johnson is a lanky corner that displays great ball skills and quick instincts along with still only being 24 years old.

The Bears may be looking to lock him up before this year's trade deadline if the team is serious about this corner's future with the team.
