Potential Chargers Draft Target Excels at NFL Combine

The big offensive lineman shined at the NFL Scouting Combine.

As we're over a month from the 2024 NFL Draft, the Los Angeles Chargers hold the number five overall pick. That could all change in the following month and a half, but at the moment, the number five pick is the number one thing on all of the Bolts fan's minds.

What will they do with the pick, and if they keep it, who will they draft? It's the question on every Charger fan's mind. We'll find out the answer soon enough. At number five, the options are endless in this deep and well-rounded draft class.

One player they've been linked toward, an offensive tackle from Notre Dame, Joe Alt, had himself an excellent NFL Scouting Combine. The combine took place this past weekend, and Alt shined in brutally every category.

Kent Lee Platte, creator of Relative Atheltic Score (RAS), shared Alt's scores throughout the combine, which was impressive.

Alt's Combine skills were so impressive that his scores ranked him 13th out of 1314 offensive tackles from 1987 to 2024. That's unbelievable when you think about all the elite offensive tackles that have come and gone from that time.

The 21-year-old tackle can improve an offense, and he is undoubtedly on the Bolts' radar. There's no reason he shouldn't be on anyone's radar; he's a mountain of a man standing at 6-foot-8 and weighing 315 pounds.

His fantastic physical traits include his outstanding athletics, recovery capacity, foot speed, agility, and flexibility. Alt will make any team happy, especially the Chargers, who struggled to protect their star quarterback, Justin Herbert.

Alt would be a fantastic pickup for the Bolts. We'll see if they pull the trigger on the big man come late April.
