NFL Insider Adam Schefter reported on Friday that newly signed Indianapolis Colts cornerback Chris Lammons has been suspended from the league for three games due to an issue that included New Orleans Saints superstar Alvin Kamara.

Schefter states: “Colts’ CB Chris Lammons, who was involved in the same incident with Alvin Kamara, is being suspended for three games, per source.”

Kamara got into a fight outside of a Las Vegas nightclub last season and was waiting for the NFL to hand down their decision on his punishment. Now, this includes the Colts and another player being removed due to some kind of infraction.

Lammons was to bring a veteran mindset to Indianapolis when they signed him. He’s been in the league since 2019 and has played for both the Miami Dolphins (2019) and the Kansas City Chiefs (2020-2022). This situation in Indy could be a nice chance to move up the depth chart on a Colts team that is thin due to players being released and injuries being present during training camp.

Despite this, he’ll now miss the first three games of the regular season due to his involvement with Kamara in the Vegas incident. The Colts likely understood this was a risk when signing Lammons and probably have a plan already in place for the suspension.

How will this impact the rest of the team? This is a young squad that has gone through multiple veterans leaving, leaders being suspended indefinitely, contract drama from their superstar player, and now more punishments being dished out from the league. The Colts are getting closer to the preseason and will need to be sharp in the remaining training camp practices to hit the ground running in the dawn of a new football era.
