Colts Named 'Logical' Landing Spot for All-Pro Mike Evans

The Indianapolis Colts could upgrade their receiver room in a big way with All-Pro wide receiver Mike Evans.

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Michael Pittman is scheduled to hit free agency in March. The Colts and their fans are rightly paying a lot of attention to Pittman hoping a deal can get done for the 2024 season.

Keeping Pittman is a priority for the Colts, but Indianapolis shouldn't stop there. The Colts are in a position where they can keep Pittman and add to the receiver room.

They have the fifth-most available cap space in the NFL according to Spotrac at $66.4 million.

Cody Benjamin of CBS Sports thinks the Colts would be a logical-landing spot for Tampa Bay Buccaneers free agent wide receiver Mike Evans.

"Indy has its own WR to pay in Michael Pittman Jr., a scheduled free agent, but head coach Shane Steichen knows the value of adding an even more accomplished pass outlet, enjoying A.J. Brown's impact on the Eagles' offense as their OC in 2022," wrote Benjamin on CBS Sports. "The Colts overachieved this year and should have QB Anthony Richardson back in 2024, making them a sleeper contender."

Benjamin also named the Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals, Houston Texans, and Kansas City Chiefs as the four other teams who would make sense for Evans if he were to leave Tampa.

Evans is still just 30-years old and has had a remarkable career with the Buccaneers. At 6'5 and 230 pounds, he is less susceptible to a steep drop-off in his thirties because he relies more on his size and skill than speed.

He's broken 1,000-yards receiving ever year he's been in the NFL and is coming off a season where he posted 1,255-receiving yards and 13 touchdowns.

Evans isn't the only big-name receiver being linked to the Colts. Indianapolis is among the favorites to land A.J. Brown of the Eagles should he force a move in Philadelphia.

While there's worry that the Colts could lose Pittman via free agency, it's more likely Indianapolis keeps him and adds another big-time target to the fold.

Mike Evans and A.J. Brown would certainly qualify. An up and coming team with lots of cash and a young quarterback?

Yeah... that makes sense.
