'No Free Coffee?' Dan Snyder's Cheap Commanders Ripped by Dolphins Coach Mike McDaniel

Mike McDaniel, who used to be an assistant coach in Washington, can't believe how much the Commanders might sell for.

PHOENIX - Mike McDaniel is now the head coach of the Miami Dolphins and can afford to buy his own cup of coffee.

But once upon a time, McDaniel was an assistant coach for owner Dan Snyder's  Washington franchise ... and things apparently were ... tight.

"Wow, the organization is worth that much?" McDaniel exclaimed on Monday here at the NFL owners meetings in Phoenix. "And I couldn't get free coffee?"

McDaniel, who was an assistant coach for Washington from 2011 to 2013, is part of a proud line of young standouts who once worked here. Sean McVay, Kyle Shanahan and Matt LaFleur were also assistant coaches in Washington around the same time as McDaniel. ... and all have gone on to achieve grand things as head coaches.

McVay has won a Super Bowl with the Los Angeles Rams, Shanahan has led the San Francisco 49ers to one Super Bowl appearance and three NFC Championship Games, and Lafleur has coached the Green Bay Packers to two NFC Championship Games.

Meanwhile, the Commanders have gone on to greatness in another way, as Snyder - under fire to sell - might get $5 billion or $6 billion or $7 billion ...

McDaniel was serious for a moment about the Washington franchise and its embattled owner, who is no longer "lovey-dovey'' with the NFL, as Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones told CowboysSI.com on Monday here in Phoenix.

"I felt as though he was a guy that has lived his whole life to be the owner of that particular team," McDaniel said of Snyder. "It is surprising. From my experience, my three years there, I didn't necessarily see that coming."
