Commanders QB Dilemma: Start Jacoby Brissett or Sam Howell?

The Commanders signed Jacoby Brissett during free agency, with the quarterback battle in the nation's capital proving to be an interesting watch.

The Washington Commanders moved to solidify their quarterback room by signing Jacoby Brissett during free agency. Now with Sam Howell and Brissett in the quarterback room, the battle for the starting job begins.

After Carson Wentz and Taylor Heinicke were "moved on," Washington is going into next season with a brand new quarterback duo.

One is a veteran in the NFL and has played for multiple teams, while the other has just one career start (a win), so who should start come Week 1?

It's impossible to predict that, as of now, the battle between Howell and Brissett could be closer than people think.

Only those inside the Commander's organization know the current pecking order. Still, head coach Ron Rivera and new offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy stated that Howell would get an "opportunity" to win the starting job.

With the addition of Brissett, the battle is well and truly on for the starting position.

Howell is an unknown commodity, and it feels like the perfect time to see what Washington has in the soon-to-be second-year quarterback. If things go south, then Brissett is more than capable of coming in and managing the offense.

But if Brissett starts, then Howell gets time to learn the position and sits while Brissett goes about his business...but Washington still wouldn't know what Howell is as an NFL starter.

In truth, there is no wrong answer as to who should be starting, but this quarterback battle will not be won easily.

It's veteran vs. rookie, and it will go down to the wire. Buckle up.
