FRISCO - In this day and age of NFL free agency, it's important for a team to be attractive to a player just as much as the player is to a team.

Each year, big-name free agents make life- and career-altering decisions regarding their next contract and the team they choose to sign with. That places a tremendous amount of importance on a team's facilities and staff.

According to a survey from the NFL Players Association, the Cowboys offer some of the league’s best working conditions.

The report was released on Wednesday during the NFL's annual scouting combine and rated each team in eight important categories.

The survey covered meals and nutrition, as well as travel and training, among others. The players responded anonymously - around 1,300 of them - and the teams were ranked from 1 to 32.

The Cowboys excelled with an A+ in treatment facilities, weight room and strength coaches, as well as the locker room. The organization received an A for food service and nutrition.

The lowest grade the team received was in the travel category where it was given a C. According to the survey, the Cowboys do not offer first-class seats for travel to players. Players sit in coach seats, while coaches and staff sit up front.

NFLPA president JC Tretter indicated the survey wasn't meant to shame teams but to show where teams could improve and raise standards.

“I think the recommendations will be fairly clear when they read the reports,” Tretter said. “There’s not much lost in translation. There are some really basic things where it’s like, ‘This shouldn’t be going on.’”

Tretter also stated the importance of releasing the survey before free agency starts.

“Two offers being equal, this might get a player to say, ‘My situation in Team X with the same offer is going to be better than Team Y,” Tretter said.

If that's the case, the Cowboys should be in good shape as the free agency period begins.
