Aaron Rodgers Trade ‘Scouting Report’ from Cowboys Coach Mike McCarthy

Who better to offer a trade-related scouting report on Aaron Rodgers than Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy?

Nobody contemplates the brilliance of Aaron Rodgers more than Aaron Rodgers.

But in terms of offering a scouting report on the aging superstar QB?

There’s probably few people more qualified than Mike McCarthy.

“Aaron,” Dallas Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy said from the Wednesday podium at the Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, “is still playing top-level football.”

As Rodgers exits his “darkness retreat” while as usual keeping his employer the “disgusted” Green Bay Packers guessing as to his desires - which seem likely to include yet another trade demand - McCarthy is in an unusual position of expertise as the New York Jets and the Las Vegas Raiders and other potential suitors work to get their bids in order.

Rodgers and McCarthy worked together for 13 sometimes tumultuous seasons as an ultimately successful duo and won Super Bowl XLV together for Green Bay.

And this year, the coach faced off against his former quarterback … with the Cowboys visiting Lambeau Field and relearning what Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers … even with him at age 39 … can do.

Rodgers and the Packers staged a furious late comeback to upset McCarthy's Cowboys, finally registering a 31-28 final score in OT.

“I thought Aaron played exceptionally well that night. I think he hit all his throws," McCarthy said. "... Aaron's still playing top-level football.”

Rodgers that day completed 14 of his 20 pass attempts for 224 yards, three touchdowns and zero interceptions in what was among his best performances of the season.

Can he do some of that stiff again in 2023? That’s what all the contemplation is about.
