Evaluation:
A versatile four-year starter who brings vast experience, Broeker is expected to kick inside to guard in 2022, after spending the past three seasons serving as the blindside protector for Matt Corral. The move came after he met with head coach Lane Kiffin and they determined that he was best suited at that position for the pros, an indication of just how well-respected Broeker is inside the locker room. On the field, he is a master technician, constantly in correct position and demonstrating the athleticism necessary to handle strength or speed. He owns premier lateral agility and is a pure run mauler who paves open huge rushing lanes. In pass blocking, his footwork enables him to mirror and he wins the leverage battle by consistently staying low. Broeker projects as a future first round pick and instant starter at the next level.

Born October 7th, 2000 in Springfield, Illinois to parents John and Missy Broeker, Nicholas Michael Broeker was a stellar multi-sport athlete at Sacred Heart-Griffin High School (SHG). In his high school career, the now rebels standout was a three-year letter winner in football and a four-year letter winner in basketball. He made the All-Metro First Team in basketball and earned All-Conference honorable mention in 2017 and 2018. On the gridiron, Broeker led the SHG Cyclones to the 2016 and 2017 City Championship, the 2016 Conference Championship, and the 2016 6A State Championships (where the team finished as the Runner-Up). What’s more, he helped his team to an 8-3 record and the second round of the IHSA Playoffs in 2018. Broeker was a two-time All-Conference and All-Metro selection; he was named to the 2018 Champaign News Gazette All-State Team. After his high school career had ended, Broeker received a three-star rating from 247Sports Composite Rankings. The same service named him the 439th-overall player nationally, the 35th-best tackle in his class, and the 5th-ranked player from Illinois in his year. 247Sports listed Broeker as a four-star recruit, the 213th-overall player nationally, the 21st-best offensive tackle in his class, and the 3rd-ranked player from Illinois in his year. Broeker played 474 snaps at left tackle as a freshman at Ole Miss, seeing the field in each of the team’s 12 games. That year, he earned his first collegiate letter while allowing just one sack across 213 pass-block snaps. Broeker was named to the 247Sports’ True Freshman All-American Team and the Pro Football Focus Freshman All-American honorable mention, and the SEC First-Year Honor Roll (2019-2020). As a sophomore, the Illinois native started every game at left tackle. He allowed just two sacks on 432 pass-block snaps on his way to earning 2020 All-SEC Fourth Team honors from Phil Steele. He was placed on the Dean’s Honor Roll (Spring 2020) and the SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll. Before the 2021 season, Broeker was placed on the Outland Trophy Watch List. He also was named to the Preseason All-American Third Team by 247Sports and the media, the Preseason All-American Fourth Team by Phil Steele, the Preseason All-SEC Second Team by Phil Steele and Athlon, and the Preseason All-SEC Third Team by the media.
