DeAndre Hopkins Trade: What Would Falcons Give Up in 'Steal'?

After the Dallas Cowboys traded for Brandin Cooks, the Atlanta Falcons could get Arizona Cardinals wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins for a reduced price.

After the Dallas Cowboys acquired Brandin Cooks in a trade with the Houston Texans, likely ruling themselves out of the DeAndre Hopkins sweepstakes, the Atlanta Falcons have been mentioned as a team with D-Hop interest.

Despite initial reports of the Arizona Cardinals wanting a second-round pick with another pick or player included, it seems the trade value for a veteran wideout has dropped after the Cowboys sent a 2023 fifth and a 2024 sixth-round pick for Cooks.

With this in mind, FanSided's Blogging Dirty put together three potential trade packages that the Falcons could propose to land Hopkins.

First Proposal

Falcons Receive: DeAndre Hopkins

Cardinals Received: 2023 Third-Round pick, 2024 fifth-round pick

Second Proposal

Falcons Receive: Hopkins

Cardinals Receive: 2023 fourth-round pick

Third Proposal

Falcons Receive: Hopkins

Cardinals Receive: 2024 third-round, 2024 fourth-round pick

The fan-favorite deal would likely be the second proposal, as the Falcons would part with one pick instead of two. But the first and third proposals seem the most realistic.

Landing the 30-year-old star would be a cherry on top of a very successful offseason for general manager Terry Fontenot as he would fill one of the remaining holes on the roster.

Hopkins would give Atlanta an established presence on the outside to pair with second-year Drake London, adding to an offense featuring tight end Kyle Pitts and two running backs in Tyler Allgeier and Cordarrelle Patterson.

And one more thing about his price: In addition to possibly getting D-Hop for non-premium picks, his cap impact for his two contractual years is just an average of $17.2 million per. In short, for Atlanta, we think maybe the price is right.
