The New York Giants signed receiver Chase Cota and center Jimmy Morrissey to reserve/future contracts.

Cota, 6-foot-4 and 200 pounds, played his college ball at UCLA from 2018-2021 and Oregon in 2022. He signed as an undrafted free agent with the Detroit Lions after the 2023 draft, and in a preseason game against the Giants, he led the team with four receptions (seven targets) for 60 yards.

Cota, the son of former NFL safety Chad Cota (1995 to 2020, various teams), was waived by the Lions and signed with the Kansas City Chiefs practice squad but was released on December 5. He was most recently with the Houston Texans practice squad, joining his cousin, safety Brady Breeze, in Houston.

Morrissey, 6-foot-3, 303 pounds, played his college ball at Pittsburgh. He was a seventh-round pick of the Las Vegas Raiders (Pick No. 230) in the 2021 draft but did not make the 53-man roster coming out of camp.

Morrissey landed on the Raiders practice squad but was signed by the Texans a month later, starting four of the five games he appeared in that season.

Morrissey bounced back and forth between the 53-man roster and the Texans practice squad over the next two seasons, appearing in eight games in 2022 and one in 2023, with no starts.
