Five Biggest Questions Heading Into Panthers' Training Camp

Previewing some of the top storylines as the Panthers get set to open up training camp.

Ah, yes. Training camp is just a few days away which means football season has finally arrived. There will be a lot for Carolina Panthers fans to watch out for while the team is in Spartanburg, but there are five areas, in particular, I wanted to highlight.

Here are the biggest questions heading into training camp:

When will Bryce Young get all first-team reps?

It's no secret that Bryce Young will be the team's starting quarterback when they head to Atlanta for the season opener. The real question is, when will he receive 100% of the first-team reps? Could it be within the first week of camp? Will it not happen until after the first preseason game? My guess is sooner than later and likely before the team's first preseason game against the Jets on August 12th.

Do the Panthers add pass rush help?

It's been well-documented that the Panthers need to get Brian Burns some help on the opposite side. Yetur Gross-Matos is far from an ideal fit in a 3-4 defense and Marquis Haynes Sr. has been effective in limited action, but who knows how well he would perform in an expanded role.

Do they add depth at corner?

Donte Jackson and Jaycee Horn form a pretty respectable tandem at the top of the depth chart, but beyond them, it's a mystery. CJ Henderson can be good, but has been inconsistent his entire career. Keith Taylor Jr. had a rough end to the season last year, so is he going to be able to bounce back? Or is that just the type of corner he is? One way or another, Carolina needs to find help at corner.

Does Matt Corral get traded?

Corral is set to get the bulk of the workload in the preseason. This will allow the coaching staff (and front office) to get a good look at what he can do and whether or not they want to groom him into eventually becoming Bryce Young's backup. If he lights it up in the preseason, he could play his way into a trade where the Panthers get a late round pick in return.

What happens at right guard?

Austin Corbett is likely to miss the start of the season as he continues to recover from his ACL injury. Cade Mays and Justin McCray make the most sense to be his replacement in the meantime, but someone else could enter the mix. Chandler Zavala, who is projected to be a left guard, may see some time here as well but will begin training camp on the PUP list.
