Reich Announces Mays as Starting Guard

Panthers head coach announces new starter in wake of injury.

Following practice on Saturday, head coach Frank Reich announced that Cade Mays would be starting at guard for Monday night's matchup against the division rival New Orleans Saints.

"Cade Mays will start at guard," he told reporters. "There may be some rotation there, maybe not. We'll see how it goes."

Starting left guard Brady Christensen went on to IR earlier this week with a season-ending bicep injury in last week's season opener against the Falcons.

With 2022 sixth-round pick Mays announced as starter, expect Nash Jensen and Justin McCray to be the players who potential rotate in if needed as Reich alluded to.

Reich did decline to say which guard spot Mays will be playing in, so despite rookie Chandler Zavala playing at right guard so far there may be a chance that Mays is not a one-to-one step in for Christensen.
