Adam Thielen Reveals Thoughts on New Head Coach Dave Canales

The Panthers veteran wide receiver had a good first impression from his new coach.

Adam Thielen is set to enter his twelfth year in the NFL and in 2024, he will play for his fifth different head coach in Dave Canales.

Wednesday morning, the Panthers' wide receiver joined Good Morning Football on NFL Network to discuss a variety of topics, one of which was his opinion on the new head ball coach in Carolina.

"Before he was hired, I didn't really know a whole lot about him. I knew of him, didn't know a lot about him. So really to hear his background, coaching background and maybe the little bit of a chip on the shoulder he has from being overlooked for a lot of years and what he's been able to do with a lot of different quarterbacks he had in his room over the years... it really impressed me," Thielen said. "But again, it all comes back to the energy he brings, the passion. You can tell he's a real guy. One of the first conversations we had, I'm not going to get into details, but he was extremely real with me and very honest and open. You can really respect that. In this league, I've been around for twelve years and you don't get a lot of that. I'm really excited to get to actual work with him and not just the little bit I've been around him. It'll be fun to really get into football and to see what he can do with a lot of young talented guys we have on this roster."

Thielen is coming off his best year he's had since he set single season highs across the board in Minnesota in 2018. He led the Panthers with 103 receptions and 1,014 yards and finished second in touchdowns receptions (4), trailing only D.J. Chark (5). This marked the third time in his career where he logged a 100-catch/1,000-yard season.
