Chase Young Makes Free Agency Decision

The Panthers miss out on a top target in free agency.

Free agent pass rusher Chase Young has decided to sign a one-year deal with the New Orleans Saints, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media.

Young chose the Saints over the Panthers and others after visiting with New Orleans today. In 43 career games, Young has tallied 100 tackles, 32 QB hits, 20 tackles for loss, and 16.5 sacks.

Carolina signed former Minnesota Viking D.J. Wonnum last week to help make up for the loss of Brian Burns who was traded to the New York Giants, but hoped to land Young as well. Wonnum is a respectable piece but they will need to continue to add pieces to that position group, losing not only Burns but Yetur Gross-Matos and inside linebacker Frankie Luvu as well.

Another free agent considering Carolina is Jadeveon Clowney but judging by how he's handled free agency in previous years, he won't be making a decision anytime soon. Clowney visited Carolina last week and will be making his way to New York for a visit with the Jets.
