With second-year quarterback Kyle Allen having already been named earlier this week to start at San Francisco, Cam Newton was officially ruled out on Friday. Here is the final injury report for Week 8.

Newton, who hasn't played since a Week 2 loss to Tampa Bay because of a foot injury, performed rehab exercises during practice this week. But head coach Ron Rivera made it clear Monday that Allen would have an opportunity to improve his record as a starting quarterback to 5-0 (6-0 career) this weekend against the 49ers.

Offensive lineman Greg Little (concussion) and outside linebacker Christian Miller (ankle) have also been scratched from Sunday's game (4 p.m. ET, FOX).

The week off following Carolina's 37-26 win on Oct. 13 over Tampa Bay in London, however, allowed for some players to heal.

Offensive lineman Trai Turner and cornerback Donte Jackson will each return for the first time since Week 3. Turner suffered a high-ankle sprain during Carolina's  38-20 win at Arizona. Jackson, a second-year pro, has been dealing with a lingering groin injury. He has two interceptions this season -- both against the Cardinals.
