The Carolina Panthers depth at defensive back took a hit, but it bolstered its receiving corps on Tuesday.

Carolina promoted DeAndrew White to the active roster and signed Braxton MIller to the practice squad. White had six receptions for 122 yards during the preseason after joining the Panthers last year. A five-year NFL veteran out of Alabama, White spent the previous three seasons with San Francisco, New England, Houston and Denver. He has three receptions for 42 yards during his six-game NFL career.

White takes Natrell Jamerson's spot on the active roster. The cornerback was placed on injured reserve because of a foot injury.

Houston selected Miller out of Ohio State with the 85th overall selection in the 2016 NFL Draft. He played in 21 games over two seasons with the Texans, catching 34 passes for 261 yards and two touchdowns. Miller spent all of 2018 on Philadelphia's practice squad and was with Cleveland during this preseason.
