Teasing Taylor: Patriots Owner Jokes Swift Dating Wrong Tight End; Gronk Over Kelce?
One of the strangest revelations from a sad season: notoriously grumpy Bill Belichick in 2023 revealed he was a Taylor Swift fan.
The former New England Patriots coach didn't exactly know what a "Swiftie" was, but he did shock his radio audience by quoting her music and later offering a jab at boyfriend Travis Kelce.
"Travis Kelce has had a lot of big catches in his career," Belichick joked last September. "This would be the biggest.”
Swift attended the Patriots' loss to Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs in December to Gillette Stadium. By that time Belichick's team was 3-11 and he was in no mood to entertain more questions about the pop star.
But now, even in the offseason, the Pats still have Taylor on the brain. Owner Robert Kraft this weekend joked that Swift might have picked the wrong tight end.
"Maybe she should have been dating Gronk," Kraft said with a smile. "He's better looking."
Rob Gronkowski has been in a relationship with model Camille Kostek since 2015, and obviously Kraft was taking a light-hearted poke at Swift. Gillette Stadium, after all, was the site of her first big-venue concert.
"Her first stadium concert was on my birthday in 2010, June 5th," Kraft said. "We convinced her and her family that she could sell out the stadium. She came to view the Chiefs play the Patriots this year at Gillette, I gave her a framed ticket from that concert."
Added Kraft about Swift's career since that debut 14 years ago, "She's done pretty well since then."
