Raiders Need New Additions to Mesh Quickly

The Las Vegas Raiders will have many new additions on their team by the end of the offseason. They'll hope said additions mesh together well and do so as quickly as possible.

The Las Vegas Raiders will open the 2024 season with new faces at multiple positions on and off the field.

They hired former Chicago Bears Offensive Coordinator Luke Getsy to the same position, a new offensive line coach, and a new running backs coach. They have also filled other positions on their coaching staff with many years' worth of coaching experience across all levels of football.

The new additions to the Raiders' coaching staff cannot be understated. Outside of a better-configured roster, one key thing the Raiders lacked last season, especially in the first half, was an experienced yet competent coaching staff.

Although Raiders Coach Antonio Pierce and Defensive Coordinator Patrick Graham did an admirable job coaching through one of the most challenging situations of any team in the National Football League last season, they would both likely agree the team would have benefitted from the type of experience the Raiders' coaching staff now has. It does not matter how good a team is on the field if its coaching staff isn't serviceable.

However, it will be critical that the Raiders' new coaching staff not only meshes together quickly, but they will also have to mesh soon with an overall, relatively new-looking team next season. As much turnover as the Raiders have experienced on their coaching staff, they will experience a relatively comparable amount of turnover on their roster, at least with some of their most important positions.

This means the Raiders will need to have their new coaching staff not only mesh together quickly as a coaching unit but also with their new-look roster.

A few of the Raiders' AFC West opponents have a new head coach or are expected to add a new quarterback. However, few teams in the division or the National Football League will have as new of a team across the board as Las Vegas. It will be imperative that the Raiders find a way to combine the new additions with the coaches and players left over from the previous regime.

The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently have the No. 13 overall pick.
