Los Angeles Rams' Ahkello Witherspoon Reveals Keys vs. 'Talented' Indianapolis Colts' Anthony Richardson

Los Angeles Rams cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon breaks down his team's process to stop Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson.

Los Angeles Rams cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon's early impact on his new team was seen by millions this past Monday night when he hauled in a jaw-dropping interception against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Despite the loss, which gave the Rams a 1-2 record, Witherspoon explained on Thursday that the "level of importance" for Week 4's matchup against the Indianapolis Colts is no different.

That being said, Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow and Colts rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson have very different styles, and Witherspoon revealed what he's expecting on Sunday.

"I see a talented quarterback with arm strength, the ability to get out of the pocket and run," Witherspoon said. "That's kind of a challenge in this new age of football when a quarterback can do it all. We're just trying to work on our discipline, our technique, as well as honoring those other skill sets that he has."

Nevertheless, Richardson was put in concussion protocol at halftime in Week 2 against the Houston Texans and just came out of it on Friday. He returned to practice earlier this week.

Witherspoon broke down how he and his team typically approach a versatile quarterback, as "staying true to yourself" is one of the main keys.

"I think you kind of let (the quarterback's) special or unique moments take you into those plays as they show up," Witherspoon said. "There's no real way to predict the way that skill-set will come up, so we're just trying to be disciplined, be sound and use our past experiences against quarterbacks of that nature."

As previously stated, the 28-year-old is one of the team's newest members, as he signed with Los Angeles on June 29. Witherspoon called his new secondary a "collective unit of quality humans" that plays with "discipline and technique," but admitted some potential areas of growth ahead of Sunday's matchup.

"I think consistency is always the journey of a defensive back," Witherspoon said. "We're just working on stacking games, plays and performances as a group."

The Rams will face the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday at 10 a.m. PT on FOX. If Witherspoon and the secondary remain consistent, disciplined and true to themselves, their chances of shutting down Richardson should skyrocket.
