Sean McVay's Message: Rams Must Focus on 'Process' For 2023 Success

Los Angeles Rams coach Sean McVay has seen it all in his tenure with the franchise, and knows that sufficient unto the day is... the work that must be put in to win more in 2023.

For Los Angeles Rams coach Sean McVay, his outlook for the 2023 NFL season is predicated around a clean slate and pragmatism along with it.

And in a recent message to his team, McVay preached those exact ideals.

"Focus on those things that we can control," McVay said. "Focus on that process, and let's not write the story before we've opened up the first page of the book."

In true 'serenity' fashion, McVay's stoic message preaches accountability in practice, trust in teammates, and the value of everything else that goes into establishing a winning culture, without piling on too much psychological burden.

The Rams lost Second-team All-Pro middle linebacker Bobby Wagner at the end of last month and have yet to make a major splash in free agency.

Additionally, the status of receivers Odell Beckham Jr. and Allen Robinson II continue to loom, as both could be on the move at the drop of a dime or remain with the franchise for this upcoming trip around the NFL sun.

Part of Los Angeles' process will be picking wisely in the upcoming NFL Draft which sees them on the clock beginning with the No. 36 overall pick in round two.

From there, reshaping the receiving corp will help QB Matthew Stafford spread the ball around more effectively and not lean so heavily on Cooper Kupp.

Roster decisions lie with management and performance is ultimately on the players, but morale, strategy and leadership must come from McVay.

For now, he's taking things one day at a time and imploring his troops to put their nose to the grindstone in hopes of yielding the fruits of their labor in due season.
