The light at the end of Cooper Kupp's injury tunnel is starting to shine a little brighter.

Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay said Friday that Kupp will begin practicing next week in his rehab process back from a hamstring injury he suffered in the preseason. McVay said "there's opinions that really matter" but he "100 percent" trusts Kupp's self-evaluation of how he feels during his recovery work.

"I know he knows his body," McVay said. "We're not going to do anything that's reckless, but I also have enough trust and confidence in our relationship, knowing how intentional he is about educating himself, using the information at his disposal.

"There's an element of, there's always going to be a risk no matter what: walking out this door, getting in your car. If he feels good enough and the situation has been in alignment with 'we're ready to get him,' we're going to get Cooper back and ready to compete for us because he's a big part of our team."

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp (10) has yet to play a game this season due to a hamstring injury.

Yes, he is a big part of the Rams.

Kupp had led the league in 2021 with mind-boggling numbers of 145 receptions, 1,947 yards and 16 touchdowns. Last season, he led the team with 75 catches, 812 yards and six touchdowns — in nine games.

He had his 2022 campaign cut short due to an ankle injury that required surgery before injuring his hamstring this preseason. After reaggravating the injury, Kupp went to hamstring specialists in Minnesota to get a second opinion Sept. 4, which resulted in him going on the injured reserve.

Kupp's now seven-year career has been hampered with injuries, only playing full seasons in 2019 and 2021.

Los Angeles' receiving corps surprisingly has still performed at a top-notch level with Puka Nacua ranking second in the NFL in receptions and fourth in receiving yards. Meanwhile, Tutu Atwell is already two catches and 53 yards away from besting his pass-catching totals from all of last season.

Kupp's return will only bolster what has been, from a numbers standpoint, the best pass-catching duo in the NFC West.
