'Offseason Turnaround': Ravens SI NFL Post-Draft Power Rankings
The Baltimore Ravens look to bounce back from an early playoff exit in last season's 10-7 campaign. It was an offseason full of Baltimore roster moves, including adding six rookies through the 2023 NFL Draft and signing quarterback Lamar Jackson to a new contract. The rookie minicamp is about to begin and it's an exciting time of possibilities around the franchise.
Now that the dust has settled on post-NFL Draft rosters, Sports Illustrated has released new power rankings and the Ravens land at No. 7. Why?
"Lamar Jackson is now officially coming back. Rookie receiver Zay Flowers is on board. Potentially devastating project edge rusher Tavius Robinson has been secured. With a healthy Jackson satisfied, under contract, and with the best weapon set he has ever had, the Ravens have gone from a singularly powered offense to having Odell Beckham Jr. essentially as their third-best receiving option. That’s not a bad offseason turnaround, especially with new OC Todd Monken calling the plays."
The Ravens hope their additions help close the gap with the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC North. With arguably a top-10 offensive line, solid defense, and a healthy Jackson, Baltimore is emerging as a contender to make postseason noise. The Ravens have major conference competition with the Bengals, Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills.
However, it is the Philadelphia Eagles who take the No. 1 spot in the rankings after drafting Jalen Carter and Nolan Smith in the first round and trading for Detroit Lions running back D'Andre Swift.
"The Eagles appear to be the best all-around team in the NFL right now," SI wrote
Oddsmakers don't agree, giving the Chiefs the best odds to win Super Bowl LVIII.
Nothing stokes a season more than an Eagles team trying to usurp the champion Chiefs and a Ravens team on their tail with new weapons to utilize. And the fun is just beginning.
