'Running Back': Cardinals Schedule Release Poke Fun at Ravens QB Lamar Jackson

The Arizona Cardinals had a little fun with their regular season schedule release at the expense of Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson.

Thursday, the NFL released the official 2023 regular season schedule, allowing teams to get creative through social media to tell their fans who they will be playing and when. Some teams resort to comedy through videos like the Dallas Cowboys holding "auditions" for the hit TV show Yellowstone. At the same time, other teams use pictures and leave it to the fans to determine what they are saying.

The Arizona Cardinals were the latter, as they used a Twitter thread to reveal their schedule. To show that they were playing the Baltimore Ravens in Week 11, the Cardinals used a photo of quarterback Lamar Jackson and a picture of "Running Back," a song by Wale and Lil Wayne.

The joke is obvious, the Cardinals are poking fun at Jackson by calling him a running back, which is something critics or rival fans like to call the Ravens' signal-caller. Jackson came to the NFL known for his scrambling ability as the former first-round pick won the Heisman Trophy after running for 1,538 yards and 21 touchdowns. Those numbers are astronomical, considering he is a quarterback.

Despite many critics believing he wouldn't be able to have success in the NFL because he was a "run-first" quarterback, Jackson rushed for over 1,200 yards in his MVP campaign.

Yet since the hiring of offensive coordinator Todd Monken and the additions of more weapons like Odell Beckham Jr., and Zay Flowers this offseason, Jackson is setting lofty goals of throwing for "6,000 yards."
