BREAKING: Ravens Signing RB Derrick Henry
The Baltimore Ravens finally have their running back, and Derrick "King" Henry has a new home in Charm City.
On Tuesday, ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported the Ravens and Henry have agreed to a two-year, $16 million deal that could be worth up to $20 million. The deal reportedly includes $9 million in first-year guarantees for Henry in Baltimore.
Last season in Tennessee, Henry ran for 1,167 yards on 280 carries and 12 touchdowns. That's a rushing average of 4.2 yards per carry. The 30-year-old also caught 28 passes for 214 yards through the air.
The Ravens were the league's most potent rushing team last season, carrying for 2,661 yards on 541 attempts without the benefit of a bonafide lead rusher. Quarterback Lamar Jackson led the team in yards.
Henry will be added to a backfield that already boasts Jackson, and the pair could be the NFL's best quarterback/running back duo.
The Ravens lost back Gus Edwards to the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday, and J.K. Dobbins - who tore his Achilles in Week 1 last season - is also a free agent and expected to find a new home.
Undrafted free agent Keaton Mitchell and Justice Hill are still on the roster and will serve as backups and situational backs in the second year of offensive coordinator Todd Monken's system.
