Ravens WR Zay Flowers Scores Twice as Baltimore Tops Los Angeles Chargers 20-10: Live Game Log
Quarterback Lamar Jackson and the Ravens head to the West Coast to take on the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday Night Football. Baltimore holds the No. 1 seed in the AFC entering Week 12 by virtue of Kansas City's Monday Night Football loss to the Eagles in Week 11.
The Ravens also hope to have Jackson healthy come playoff time, something that hasn't happened in the past two years. Baltimore and Jackson are heading into a tough stretch on the schedule where they'll play the Chargers, Rams, Jags, 49ers, and Dolphins before ending the season against the Steelers on Jan. 7.
It's also the time of year that Jackson has been hurt in recent seasons.
Jackson suffered a knee injury last year in Week 12 against the Broncos, and the year prior, he was injured in Week 13 against Cleveland. Jackson's goal this season? Just don't get hit.
“I’ll say I don’t slide, but I get down. I get under hits; I’ll say that but that’s it I guess,” he said. “That’s all I know – don’t get hit.”
Jackson enters Week 12 No. 5 in the NFL in completion percentage at 69.5, and No. 6 in passer rating with 100.1. If you combine the efforts of Jackson and running back Gus Edwards, the Ravens have the NFL's top rushing attack, averaging 155.1 yards per game. Edwards has added 10 rushing touchdowns, second among AFC backs.
After Sunday, the Ravens will enjoy their bye before a Dec. 10 matchup with the Rams at M&T Bank Stadium, so everyone should be well-rested for the stretch run.
“It’s good. It’s where you want to be at this point, but it doesn’t mean anything until after the last game in terms of playoff seeding,” coach John Harbaugh said. “We control a certain amount of our destiny. I don’t know what the tiebreakers would say, but to some degree, we do. We just have to keep winning.”
The Chargers are struggling right now, coming off close, three-point losses to Detroit and Green Bay. They boast the NFL's second-worst defense and are last in the league against the pass. That should provide plenty of opportunities for Jackson and his receivers.
