'Cowboys Never Called!' Ravens RB Derrick Henry Surprised by Lack of Dallas Interest
Baltimore Ravens running back Derrick Henry experienced free agency for the first time in his career this offseason. Kind of.
Henry lasted all of a day and a half of the NFL's so-called legal tampering period, the two days before free agency officially starts when the league's new year begins. He didn't get the full experience, and as a matter of fact, he may not have gotten any of it.
The 30-year-old free-agent-to-be was linked heavily to the Ravens since last season. But he was also thought to be linked to other teams in need of a running back, namely, the Dallas Cowboys. But oddly, they weren't interested.
Henry appeared on Mad Dog Radio on SiriusXM with Adam Schein and said, "The Cowboys never called at all. I don't really know what's going on over there."
That's probably true for most of us.
The Cowboys have lost Tony Pollard in free agency to the Tennessee Titans - Henry's former home. They're now entering a season for the first time without Zeke Elliott or Pollard in the backfield for the first time since 2016.
Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones indicated his team is "all-in" for 2024, but no one seems to know what that means, and the lack of action by the team in free agency might indicate Dallas doesn't either.
The Ravens are happy Henry is in town and wearing black and purple.
And who's to say the former Alabama Crimson Tide running back would not have chosen Baltimore over Dallas anyway?
