Dez Bryant is never shy about sharing his NFL-based opinion. And in the case of the Baltimore Ravens - who employed him for six games at the end of his nine-year NFL career - the former All-Pro might have some inside info on how the Ravens have pushed themselves to the top of the AFC.

“Greg Roman to Todd Monken,” Dez wrote on Twitter, “and that's the difference.”

Roman was the offensive coordinator in Baltimore during Bryant’s short stint here. And in fairness to Roman, his run-first mindset brought a great deal of success to the Lamar Jackson-led offense.

But this year, head coach John Harbaugh oversaw a staff change, bringing in Monken from the college level to run the offense in the Charm City.

Bryant, the former Dallas Cowboys standout no doubt like the rest of us looking forward to the Christmas night showdown featuring the AFC best-Ravens playing at the NFC-best San Francisco 49ers, might be treating Roman a bit harshly here.

Taking to Twitter on Saturday, Dez said that he thinks this is the year that Lamar Jackson makes his long-awaited deep playoff run because of the help of offensive coordinator Todd Monken.

“In my short stint with the Ravens I was livid how much of Lamar’s rare abilities was (used to help win) games for the Ravens,” Dez said, referring to Lamar not being fully utilized as a passer. “He deserved to be coached with a real plan around him.”

Whatever Ravens observers think of the Roman era, Bryant is certainly right about Lamar’s success working with Monken … as the dual-threat Jackson is a leading MVP candidate.

Said Dez: “In looking from the outside in, you can see the difference.”

What a national TV audience will be watching for on Christmas night: Can Monken and Lamar and the Ravens show off that “difference” with a win over the Niners?
