The Saints are adding to their linebacker room. According to NFL Network's Mike Garofolo, New Orleans is signing Khaleke Hudson to a one-year deal.

Hudson, a fifth-round pick of Washington in 2020, appeared in all 17 games for the Commanders last season, starting in eight contests. He had 74 total tackles in 2023, appearing in 405 snaps (35%) defensively and 344 (73%) on special teams. He's appeared in 58 games over his four seasons in the league, and visited with the Steelers earlier this week.

The Saints had a big pickup in Willie Gay Jr. this offseason, who figures to be a huge part of the defensive plans. Hudson could compete for time, but would obviously be a big part of the special teams. New Orleans lost several key contributors in the offseason in Zack Baun (Eagles), Lonnie Johnson Jr. (Texans) and Isaac Yiadom (49ers). Others like Nephi Sewell (ACL) won't be ready for training camp, so we'll see what Hudson's exact role and impact will be soon enough.
