New Orleans Saints’ defensive end Cameron Jordan has been nominated for the ninth USAA “Salute to Service” award. The award, which is presented annually by the NFL and USAA, honors the league representative that best demonstrates the highest commitment to support of the military community. USAA is the official partner of the NFL’s Salute to Service program.

Jordan was nominated by the Saints for being a stalwart in the community, supporting military both locally and worldwide. He has participated in two USO tours with NFL players, most recently visiting troops and their families in South Korea in 2019. Locally, Jordan has been involved in several military events, including visiting military bases and taking part in the Pros vs. G.I. Joes video game tournaments at the team’s facility. Jordan has forged a special and engaging relationship with Lawrence Brooks, a 110-year-old World War II veteran (one of the oldest surviving veterans) and New Orleans resident. The two met in 2017 at a team practice, Jordan was so impressed by Brooks’ vitality, experience, and interest in meeting the team, that he gifted him tickets to Super Bowl LII.
