Former First-Round Pick From Ohio State Set to Visit New Orleans Saints

Chase Young is set to visit the Panthers and Saints this week, according to a report by NFL Network.
In this story:

The Saints have been fairly quiet during the NFL's 'Legal Tampering' period, but that obviously doesn't mean that they aren't putting in work. We've heard about one free agent visit in Avonte Maddox, and now another intriguing one has surfaced in defensive end Chase Young.

According to NFL Network's Tom Peliserro, the free agent pass-rusher is expected to visit both the Panthers and Saints this week. The Titans were later added as another spot he'll visit. Young is a former first-rounder from the 2020 draft out of Ohio State who was selected second overall by Washington. Things didn't completely pan out there, as he was traded to the 49ers for a 2024 third-round pick on Nov. 1, 2023. He had a sack in the Super Bowl against the Chiefs and also picked up 2.5 while with San Francisco to finish with 7.5 on the year.

Saints Free Agency Tracker, Rumors and News For New NFL Season

It's no secret that the Saints could use a pass-rusher. New Orleans wasn't expected to play in the top-tier space, but Young is certainly an intriguing prospect that multiple teams will want to explore. There were times where you might not have seen the best effort and output from him, but he's undoubtedly talented. Perhaps a one-year deal is the best course of action here, but we'll see if it will even get that far.
