The NFL announced on Wednesday that Saints safety Marcus Maye has been suspended without pay for the next three games due to violating the NFL's Substance Abuse Policy. Maye will be eligible to return to the team after their Week 5 game against the Patriots, which means he'll miss games against the Packers and Bucs as well.

There were two things going against Maye, although one charge was dropped back in May. This is stemming from the DUI arrest in 2021 before he signed with the Saints when he was with the Jets. He took a plea deal on it back in late August.

New Orleans may turn to rookie Jordan Howden in the meantime, who has had work at both positions during the offseason. The team also has veteran Johnathan Abram on the practice squad, and there's also a few roster spots open right now. We'll see how they go about it, but it's obviously unfortunate.

The team is also down Alvin Kamara and Jake Haener due to suspensions, although Kamara will return following Sunday's game against Green Bay.
