New Orleans Saints WR Bryan Edwards has been waived by the team on Tuesday. The transaction was first reported by ESPN NFL Insider Field Yates.  He is the third of three offseason veteran wideout additions released by the Saints in less than two weeks.  The others were James Washington and Keke Coutee.

Edwards, 24, was a third-round pick out of South Carolina by the Raiders in the 2020 NFL Draft.  He had 234 receptions for 3,045 yards and 22 touchdowns over four collegiate seasons.

In two years with the Raiders, Edwards caught 45 passes for 764 yards and four scores in 28 games and 15 starts.  He was a teammate of QB Derek Carr for those two seasons.  Edwards was traded to the Atlanta Falcons during the 2022 offseason.  He'd appear in only seven games for the Falcons and had three receptions for 15 yards before being released at mid-season.

New Orleans signed Edwards as a free agent this offseason.  A physical receiver at 6'3" and 212-Lbs., Edwards was expected to complement Michael Thomas.  However, he failed to make any kind of impact throughout training camp or preseason.  He was substantially outplayed by rookie wideouts A.T. Perry and Shaq Davis, along with Lynn Bowden, Jontre Kirklin, and Keith Kirkwood.

Edwards had three catches for 37 yards in the team's preseason opener against the Chiefs.  Against the Chargers last Sunday, Edwards failed to record a single reception.   He also nullified two separate touchdowns with offensive pass interference penalties and failed to bring in a catchable ball in the end zone for another score.
