'None of My Business!' D.K. Metcalf Reacts to Seahawks Snub

"The only thing I care about is how Geno, my O-line, other wide receivers and peers in this building think of me,'' D.K. Metcalf says of a new Seahawks snub.

D.K. Metcalf has rapidly matured into one of the best wide receivers in the NFL. He is also showing a rare level of maturity in his reaction to not being included in the NFL Top 100 list.

Many players whine about such snubs. Or announce that they are using the insult for motivation. But Metcalf, the 25-year-old who fell just outside the top 100 - he ended up coming in at No. 101 - explains to Seattle Sports a different approach in reacting to his ranking.

"It's none of my business what other people think of me. I think very highly of myself and the type of player I am,'' Metcalf said.

This is a neat twist. We are in a time during which hundreds of websites are doing Top 100 lists. Or Top 50, or 20, or 10. And just like the "controversial'' ratings issued by the "Madden'' video game, they often have very little to do with reality.

Metcalf's reality for the 2022 playoff Seahawks is in the eye test and in the numbers. He has recorded 1,000 yard seasons in two of the past three years. He is a double-digit TD catch guy in two of the past three seasons. Along with Tyler Lockett, he gives Seattle a set of weapons that, no matter what the graders think, keeps opposing offensive coordinators awake at night leading up to Sundays.

So what does the candy-addicted D.K. concern himself with, if not goofy ratings and silly rankings?

"The only thing I care about is how Geno, my O-line, other wide receivers and peers in this building think of me,'' Metcalf said.
