Seahawks Coach Mike Macdonald Not Shying Away From Adversity: 'Head On!'
Seattle Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald is ready to hit the ground running with his new team. After being the Baltimore Ravens' defensive coordinator, Macdonald now has the chance to do things his way.
The Seahawks have a talented roster and one that could be considered playoff-caliber. Missing out of the postseason this season means that things need to change.
Whether that's from a personnel standpoint, coaching, or scheme, Macdonald is ready to get to work, but he knows that it won't all be plain sailing.

"There's going to be a lot of challenges," Macdonald said. "We're going to have adversity. What's the biggest one? I can't answer that. But I just know that if we're going to take the approach we have every day and attack it head on, then we'll be able to get through it."
Macdonald is taking over a team from Pete Carroll that has weapons on both sides of the ball. He will be tasked with improving a Seattle defense that left a lot to be desired at times this season.
But with good pieces in Devon Witherspoon, Riq Woolen, Boye Mafe, Julian Love, Uchenna Nwosu, Dre'Mont Jones, Bobby Wagner, and Leonard Williams (if re-signed), Macdonald has something to work with.
In the last two seasons, the Seahawks' defense has been ranked 25th for points allowed per game (23.6 in 2022 and 2023), so limiting the scoring is likely job No. 1.
It won't always be a smooth ride in Macdonald's first season as Seattle head coach, but having one of the brightest defensive minds, coupled with a tough and gritty mentality, the Seahawks will be ready for whatever is thrown at them in 2024.
