Seahawks Latest Roster Rankings: How Far From 'Elite' is Seattle?

The Seattle Seahawks are among the best in the conference, in the eyes of NFL.com.

As the Philadelphia Eagles reign as NFC Conference champions, other contenders hope to build rosters that can usurp the title and compete for Super Bowl LVIII.

Ahead of the 2023 NFL Draft, roster hierarchy has been ranked by NFL.com. The Seattle Seahawks are among the best in the conference in the "Playoffs Should Be The Goal" tier.

Seattle’s tier is only a step below the “top dogs” group. The Seahawks are joined by playoff-hopeful teams like the Detroit Lions, Minnesota Vikings and New York Giants. Here’s NFL.com’s reasoning for Seattle being just a step away from being a NFC contender.

"The Seahawks and Giants saw career years from Geno Smith and Daniel Jones, respectively, with each QB earning a lucrative extension this offseason. There will be some natural suspicion with the Seahawks ...

And more, comparing Seattle to New York: "We give the Seahawks a slight edge between the two teams right now, given they are even more loaded with draft assets than the Lions are, with four picks in the top 52 overall, including a pair of first-rounders (Nos. 5 and 20). ... The Seahawks' front-seven additions might collectively have just a shade more impact overall."

The three teams ranked in the top tier of the NFC Conference are the Eagles, Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers. Currently, San Francisco is the favorite to win the NFC and Philadelphia - led by the newly-extended Jalen Hurts - is the favorite to win the NFC East.

The Seahawks will continue to add to the roster in the upcoming NFL Draft. Thanks to the Russell Wilson trade, Seattle has two first-round picks - No. 5 and No. 20 overall - and almost countless optionsThe expected plan for Seattle? Selecting either a top defender or one of the four elite quarterback prospects.

The draft will take place at Union Station in Kansas City, Mo. with the first round beginning on April 27.

Whichever direction the Seahawks go with their first-round picks, they hope it's a positive step toward building a talented roster to again compete in the postseason.
