He's Back! Kenny Pickett Returns to Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers got their starting quarterback back at practice.

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers got some pretty big news to start their week as quarterback Kenny Pickett has returned to practice with an opportunity to play against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Head coach Mike Tomlin announced during his weekly press conference that Pickett would do some work at practice throughout the week. How much would then determine his availability against the Bengals.

Pickett underwent surgery on a high ankle sprain just 15 days ago and was walking around in a boot prior to this week. While it's unknown how limited he was in practice, his return to the field marked a milestone the Steelers can be excited about.

For now, the Steelers are working with Mason Rudolph as their starter, with the expectation that he will be their QB1 in Week 16. Even if he doesn't start, though, Pickett could be dressed and active against the Bengals.

The Steelers will hold two more practices and a walk-through before hosting Cincinnati. They'll release their final injury report on Thursday following their last full practice.

Pittsburgh is still in contention for a playoff spot but will need to win their final three games to give themselves the best opportunity to squeeze into the wildcard round. They'll travel to Seattle and Baltimore after this week.
