Two Former Steelers Hit Free Agency

Two former Pittsburgh Steelers have been released.

PITTSBURGH -- Two former Pittsburgh Steelers headed back to the open market this week after being released by their respective teams. Wide receiver Cody White was waived by the Seattle Seahawks, and safety Tre Norwood was waived by the San Francisco 49ers.

Both players were on the practice squad.

Norwood signed in San Francisco last month and spent just about four weeks on the team's practice squad. It was his first team since being released by the Steelers during the final round of roster cuts heading into the season.

The third-year safety has 32 games of experience, including six starts over his first two seasons with the team, recording 61 tackles, four pass deflections and an interception.

White was signed to the Seahawks practice squad just a week ago. The former Michigan State standout spent the last three seasons with the Steelers but was released off of injured reserve this summer. The long-time practice squad member played 15 games for Pittsburgh two seasons ago, but just one last year.
