J.J. Watt Finally Addresses Steelers Rumors

This is something Pittsburgh Steelers fans are going to want to hear.

PITTSBURGH — There has been no hiding the rumors circulating about J.J. Watt coming out of retirement to join the Pittsburgh Steelers during the 2023 season.

While not many have the belief Watt would step back into football right now, later in the season has been the talk about when the future Hall of Famer could suit back up.

Of those talking about a possible return, taking the field with his brother, T.J., in Pittsburgh has seemingly been deemed the best - and most likely - fit.

Now, Watt has responded to those rumors, and his reaction isn’t one hopeful fans want to hear.

“No, I will not be playing for the Pittsburgh Steelers,” Watt said during an appearance on Pardon My Interruption.

Watt did say he’ll be at a game this season, and will be rooting for the Steelers in retirement.

“Steelers fans are one of the best canvases I’ve ever witnessed in my life,” he said. “Everywhere I go, ‘Hey, I love you but I’m a huge Steelers fan so I love your brother.’ ‘Hey, come to the Steelers.’”

The oldest Watt brother set up a visit with head coach Mike Tomlin, and has been told by a Pittsburgh scout to stay in shape, just in case he gets a phone call late in the season.

He’s shut down these rumors for now, but it’s hard to say all the belief Watt could be in the mix late in the season will disappear, even with him addressing them.
