NFL Fines Steelers WR Diontae Johnson

The NFL has punished Pittsburgh Steelers wideout Diontae Johnson.

PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Diontae Johnson was fined by the NFL for his remarks toward the referees following the team’s Week 8 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

During the game, the refs were criticized by many watching for their questionable calls or missed calls toward the Steelers. Afterward, Johnson wasn’t shy about their mistakes, blaming the officials for the loss.

“They were calling stupid stuff. They should get fined for calling terrible stuff," Johnson said. "That’s how pissed I am. I don’t care what anyone says, it cost us the game. Yeah, I got to make plays. I had two plays I should have made but that doesn’t define the whole game.”

For his remarks, the NFL hit Johnson with a $25,000 fine, according to ESPN’s Brooke Pryor.

Johnson wasn’t alone in his worries about the referees in the ball game. Head coach Mike Tomlin and guard Isaac Seumalo also questioned one of their calls, referring to an offsides call toward the offense on a field goal attempt.
