Steelers WR Allen Robinson Sees Younger Self in George Pickens

The Pittsburgh Steelers veteran believes their second-year star is in for a big year.

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers made a splash late in the offseason, trading with the Los Angeles Rams for wide receiver Allen Robinson.

Robinson's arrival helps the team immediately and in the future, as they're looking for the Pro Bowler to be a mentor for younger players like George Pickens and Calvin Austin.

Robinson is all-in on helping those after him. Entering his 10th season in the NFL, the former second-round pick is ready to see Pickens explode - and believes he's in for a big year as an NFL sophomore.

"I see a lot of myself in George, as far as an ascending player coming into his second year," Robinson said. "My second year in the league was one of my best years of my career. Being able to look back at it, where I was in my second year, there still was a ton of football that I didn't know, and still was a lot of things that I didn't know. So, being able to share that knowledge and that experience, going and thinking about that early time in my career, certain things that I didn't know that I wish I had known. I definitely can relate to where he's at."

Robinson's second season included a Pro Bowl selection, 1,400 yards and 14 touchdowns, both career highs for the wideout. Pickens is coming off his rookie season with 801 yards and four touchdowns but has bigger goals for himself this season.

"I want to get over 1,000 yards," Pickens said. "I want to go to the Pro Bowl. I want us to win the Super Bowl."

With the help of Robinson, those goals might all be met.
