Steelers Making Change to Matt Canada's Role

The Pittsburgh Steelers are promoting offensive coordinator Matt Canada.

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers are adding a key element to offensive coordinator Matt Canada's role, moving him closer to quarterback Kenny Pickett's development, according to The Score's Jordan Schultz.

"Canada will continue calling plays but will also be working directly with Pickett on a daily basis," according to Schultz. The move is considered a promotion and the Steelers believe the change will allow Canada to make a larger impact on the offense.

The move comes as almost an opposite call from what the fanbase may be hoping for. In the last week, with the offense struggling to get much done on the field, fans have openly asked the Steelers to move on from the offensive coordinator.

During their Week 2 home game, fans chanted "Fire Canada" during the fourth quarter. Since then, they've started a petition to remove the OC and one fan even hired Breaking Bad actor Dean Norris to send Canada a message to "get the f*** out of Pittsburgh."

Instead, the Steelers will lean more heavily into Canada moving forward, with the belief it will make a change to their success.
