Steelers Cut Former Jets Punter
PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers made a major addition to their secondary this week, but needed to make room on their roster to do so.
The Steelers cleared room for a new defensive back by letting go of punter Braden Mann, a third-year pro out of Texas A&M, the team announced.
Releasing Mann makes room for newly acquired cornerback Desmond King, who the Steelers picked up in the hours following the 53-man roster cuts deadline.
Mann spent the past three seasons with the Jets after being drafted in the sixth round in 2020. Last year, he averaged 45.4 per punt and has a career average of 46.9 yards per punt.
Pressley Harvin can now rest a little easier knowing he is solidly the Steelers' starting punter. He and Mann had been competing during training camp and Harvin owned the upper hand heading into the start of the regular season.
