Steelers' Diontae Johnson Addresses Altercation With Teammate
PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers were heated leaving the field in Week 11 after their loss to the Cleveland Browns, and that frustration boiled over into an altercation between two of the top players.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, wide receiver Diontae Johnson was yelling at coaches while walking into the locker room after the game, and at the moment, safety Minkah Fitzpatrick stepped in to say something. That led to a "heated" argument, eventually leading to Cam Heyward and T.J. Watt separating the two.
Johnson was asked about the situation after the team's win over the Cincinnati Bengals, and he made it clear he and Fitzpatrick are fine.
"That's my brother at the end of the day," Johnson told reporters. "We're going to be players. We're passionate about the game. Everybody wants to win. You all can't look at it like we had an all-out brawl or something, it ain't that, so don't get it twisted.
"Everybody do it on each and every team. Talk junk to each other. We squashed it. We won the game today. That's all that matters."
The incident, according to Schefter, helped the team's decision in firing offensive coordinator Matt Canada. In the team's first game without him, they eclipsed 400 yards for the first time in 59 games.
