Steelers Land 'Dream Scenario' in Latest Mock Draft

The Pittsburgh Steelers let Joey Porter Jr. land in Baltimore so they can select their best player available.

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers get their "dream scenario" in NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah's latest mock draft.

Jeremiah released his third mock draft of the offseason and changes course for the Steelers compared to most other mocks out there. Instead of selecting Joey Porter Jr., who is still available along with Maryland's Deonte Banks, Pittsburgh selects Georgia offensive tackle Broderick Jones at No. 17.

"This would be a dream scenario for the Steelers as they continue to overhaul their offensive line this offseason," Jeremiah writes.

The latest mock by the NFL Network's draft specialist has some twists. Will Levis slides to pick 19, Porter Jr. goes to the Baltimore Ravens at pick 22 and Hendon Hooker makes his way into the first round at pick 23 to the Minnesota Vikings.

Pittsburgh and Porter Jr. seem like the consensus pick by many if he makes it to 17. The change to offensive tackle makes sense, and could certainly be the Steelers' move in the first round. That being said, watching Porter Jr. go to Baltimore wouldn't be their ideal situation.

Jones would provide serious upside to the left tackle position for the Steelers. After signing Nate Herbig and Isaac Seumalu to take over the left guard spot, finding a competitor for Dan Moore Jr. does appear to be on the team's to-do list.

If Jones slide to 17, which many have him being the top tackle taken in the draft, Pittsburgh would likely jump on the opportunity.
