Steelers Plane Makes Emergency Landing on Way Home From Vegas

The Pittsburgh Steelers had to make an unexpected landing on their way home from Las Vegas.

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers made an unexpected stop on their way back to Pennsylvania as the team's charter plane was diverted to Kansas City, team spokesperson Burt Lauten announced.

According to Lauten, everyone on the team is safe, and they are making plans to return to Pittsburgh later in the day. It's unknown what caused the flight to make the landing.

"Our team charter plane was unexpectedly diverted to Kansas City early this morning on our way back to Pittsburgh following our game in Las Vegas. Everyone on the plane is safe, and we are making necessary plans to arrive back in Pittsburgh later today," Lauten announced on Twitter.

While the issue is unknown, it appears the players are taking to lightheartedly, with Cam Heyward cracking jokes online.

The Steelers were returning from their 23-18 win over the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday Night, with expectations of landing early in the morning. The team typically uses Mondays as a recovery day to assess film and receive treatment for injuries that occurred in-game.
