Steelers DB Trenton Thompson Injured vs Bills

The Pittsburgh Steelers suffer their first injury of the week.

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers suffered an injury to an emerging defensive back in their second preseason game. In the second quarter against the Buffalo Bills, safety Trenton Thompson went down after making a tackle mid-air.

Thompson went up to defend a pass thrown by Matt Barkley and intended for Trent Sherfield. After making contact, he remained down on the field before being helped up by teammate Kenny Robinson. He immediately ran to the sideline, where he was met by trainers and escorted to the medical tent.

It's unknown what the injury is at this time.

Thompson has had a productive two weeks with multiple interceptions during training camp and a pick against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the preseason opener. Despite being a long shot for the 53-man roster, he's made strives and should be considered an option for another club, or the practice squad, if healthy.
