Steelers Sign Former Eagles WR

The Pittsburgh Steelers are adding a speedy wideout to their depth chart.

ORLANDO -- The Pittsburgh Steelers are signing former Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Quez Watkins, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.

Watkins, 25, was the Eagles sixth-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. In four seasons, he's played 49 games, including 25 starts, recording 98 receptions for 1,249 yards and six touchdowns. Last season, he added 15 catches for 142 yards and a score to his career total.

The Steelers are loading up their wide receiver room, adding Watkins and Van Jefferson in recent weeks. While neither is looked at as a starter, they do add depth options and plenty of versatility for Pittsburgh's new offense.

The Southern Mississippi star ran a 4.35 40-yard dash during his NFL Combine and has the ability to return kicks in the NFL. While Pittsburgh will likely still view Calvin Austin as their punt returner, they are in the market for a kick return specialist, and Watkins could be their answer.

After the signing, Pittsburgh's wide receiver room includes Watkins, Jefferson, Austin and George Pickens.
