The NFL Draft is an inexact science. Teams and personnel departments do their very best in the months leading up to selection day to put together their boards, rank individual players, and prioritize position groups per needs.

We're now over a week removed from the 2023 edition of the draft and teams have had time to introduce their new players and writers have had time to critique those picks for each team.

CBS Sports is no exception, and it recently featured the most questionable draft picks made by each team from last weekend.

The Texans' direction in the draft was clearly focused on offense and the need for a franchise quarterback. But they were also able to make an impact on the defensive side of the ball too, thanks to some creative trading in the first round by GM Nick Caserio.

Texans

Juice Scruggs, OG/C, Penn State (Round 2, No. 62 overall)

"The Texans have had a clear objective over the past two years. They locked up offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil, then drafted edge rusher Will Anderson Jr., offensive guard Kenyon Green and Scruggs. It is obvious that they are placing an emphasis on getting more physical at the point of contact so it is easily understood why they were drawn to adding an interior lineman. However, Scruggs was lower on my personal board."

What does it all mean? It sounds like a reach, frankly. And only time will tell if Scruggs can make an impact on the offensive line like the Texans need him to.
