Texans Coach DeMeco Ryans Living Up To Expectations Says GM Nick Caserio
INDIANAPOLIS -- New coach DeMeco Ryans arrived at the Houston Texans with a lot of fanfare after being one of the most popular names in this year's annual carousel of firing and hiring.
In his time working with the new Texans leader, general manager Nick Caserio says he's met every expectation he had of Ryans upon hiring him.
"He's been great," Caserio said of Ryans. "Everything I heard or knew about him beforehand has come to fruition."
Of course, none of this is a surprise.
Ryans' meteoric rise to becoming a premiere head coaching candidate this offseason was not a mistake.
His reputation for being one of the hardest working, creative, and intelligent football minds today was well established by the time he started taking interviews.
And those went so well that he became the top target for more teams in search of a new leader than just Houston.
While he's lived up to the reputation that preceded him, he's also shown an early flare for working with his team, rather than barking orders and expecting blind obedience.
"He's very open-minded," Caserio continued. "We've had a lot of open communication...We actually met as a staff yesterday offensively and defensively and went through their evaluation...DeMeco has his thoughts, I have my thoughts and we're really going to try and blend everything together here."
A lot of times successful NFL teams become credited to one person. One single genius football mind conducts the orchestra.
But the reality is the conductor would be nothing without the instruments around him.
Clearly, Ryans is aware of this and is looking to leverage the skills of every member on Houston's staff.
Music to the ears of Caserio, and hopefully a symphony in the making for Texans fans everywhere.
